El Dorado Fire Update
Camp has been evacuated; however, key employees remain to keep an eye on things until the last critical moment of departure.
Other employees are staying with friends and family right now, and Daisy Doodle is being cared for by lead cook Ed Bagdon in Mentone. She likes being with Ed, but sure hates the heat of the valley. She does not like being on a leash and being penned up. She is just not used to any of the things she is experiencing in town. But she is glad that her favorite man, Ed, is taking care of her.
Staff will return to camp as soon as the evacuation order is lifted. You can only imagine that this is a stressful time for them as they sleep on the floor at a friend’s house and worry about their home/camp being consumed by forest fire. Most left with only a few possessions, as if they were only going away for a couple days. No doubt this will be a longer evacuation.
Although the flames are several ridges over from camp, the big worry are the winds carrying cinders thru the air to land several miles away, igniting a new fire.
Let’s all keep positive energies flowing up to camp and keep the displaced employees in your good thoughts.
The staff members think of the camp as their home and take good care of the camp on your behalf. Fire leaves everyone feeling helpless, and when they are evacuated due to USFS order, they feel understandably upset and displaced.
