2024 Line Fire Update #10
Line Fire Update 10/1/24
Dear Camp Supporters:
It’s hard to get up to the minute news out of the Barton Flats area right now, due to the evacuation. Naturally, the crews are busy fighting the fire three miles west of camp. Two night-flying helitankers are continuing to work near Hwy 38 east of Angelus Oaks, which is a help in the dark of the night. Multiple crews in several areas are fighting the fire with ground and air power.
If you have ever looked down into the Santa Ana River valley as you drive along highway 38 between Angelus Oaks and Camp, then you know just how steep the terrain is in this area. It makes fighting a fire on the ground very difficult. We lost another 1200 acres of forest since yesterday.
Containment is down to 78% from 83% before the flare up.
The fire continues to advance in the Santa Ana River valley (Seven Oaks) and has crossed hwy 38 east of Angelus Oaks. If accounts are accurate, this leg of the fire might have burned itself out when it burned into the Old Fire scare on the other side of the highway.
In addition to the information available by clicking the images above to KTLA and KBHR websites, here are a couple more informative sites:

All is quiet at camp. It is being checked upon by law enforcement and a local camp director who has yet to evacuate himself.
Dear Janet and Camp,
Thanks so much for the updates, though they are heart-wrenching. It brings back vividly the time my family had to get out of the mountains and cut short a camping trip with friends because fire was coming fast and even burnt areas were around us as we drove down the mountain.
It also brings back wonderful, vivid memories of so many visits to camp for different camps. My son especially liked the winter kid’s camp.
I have been meaning to become a monthly donor and how I have. Thank you for asking and reminding me of this giving opportunity to show my love and support and gratitude for you all!
We miss camp (we live in Germany now) and we hold you all in our hearts.
Namaste
Bonnie F
We’ll keep you updated as we get more information. Keep camp and our beloved mountain in your thoughts and prayers.
