Line Fire Update 9/30/24 

Dear Camp Supporters:

Nearly 4 weeks after the Line Fire began, we got a second evacuation warning for the Barton Flats area.  Due to a significant flare up on Sunday on the north slope above Seven Oaks, the camp and surrounding area have been blanketed by low lying smoke.

Power went out at about 6 pm, Sunday, and our backup generator kicked on.

As a recap, the Line Fire has burned over 43,000 acres and was 83% contained when a smoldering section got away from the fire crews in the wind. The USFS and Cal Fire have had close to1200 personnel assigned to fight the Line Fire. Half of Big Bear is under an evacuation warning right now as this latest leg of the fire climbs the mountain above Seven Oaks.  Big Bear Snow Summit is directly on the other side of the firey mountain, and they have their water cannons spraying water on the top of the ski mountain.

Latest Watch Duty map details a hot spot on both sides of hwy 38, east of Angelus Oaks.  We have no other confirmed details as we are preparing this newsletter.

The orange color is 24-hours old hot spot and the red blur is the 12-hours old hot spot. 

This map shows where all the air support resources are currently being deployed.
