April 25 to 27 in San Diego
UU Now More Than Ever!

You are invited to the Pacific Southwest Service Area Assembly, UU Now More Than Ever!  This local UU assembly will offer a weekend with two keynote speakers, six workshops, music, and social interaction on April 25 to 27, 2025.  The venue will be the First UU Church San Diego, which is one of the Unitarian Universalist (UU) congregations, fellowships, churches, and societies in the Pacific Southwest Service Area.  These local UU entities are the owners of Camp de Benneville Pines.

At our local (Pacific SW) Assembly themed UU Now More Than Ever!, we will likely hear from the UUA Co-Moderator, Meg Riley for both a keynote address and a supporter of the role delegates have in UU governance.  At last year’s GA, UUA delegates approved the marketing outreach shift to a concise set of words to quickly state values we uphold.  UU values stated in this way can help us channel our energy towards cultivating a culture of love—a culture that transcends barriers and touches the lives of all we can reach.

Unitarian Universalists put our faith into action.  Our justice efforts are grounded in our congregationally driven social justice statements and our call to break down divisions, heal isolation, and honor the interconnectedness of all life and justice issues.  We model these commitments by creating just, welcoming, and inclusive congregations.  Our work for a better world calls us to unexpected places as we harness love’s power to stop oppression.

We have to be careful about recognizing tactics authoritarians use. Just as sporadic encounters of Indigenous people discovered European sojourners and provided opportunities for each party to understand as well as misunderstand each other, today, we on this colonized land randomly encounter people supporting authoritarian tactics.  It is our responsibility in displaying and discussing our values to try to refrain from amplifying the authoritarian tactics of futility, hate and fear.  Be calm and persistent in talking about Interdependence, Love, Generosity, Pluralism, Justice, Equity, and Transformation.

Please join us for our annual assembly, a community gathering of representatives from all churches in the PSWSA.  Camp de Benneville Pines, a Unitarian Universalist mountain retreat site is operated by the Pacific Southwest Service Area UU Congregations, is here to nourish your lives; and with your volunteerism and support, plans to be here to nurture spiritual health, far into the future.
